Make a Difference

May 10, 2007

Every year our librarian Linda Lakshminarayanan puts together a Book Quest for our children at Emerson School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. For the Book Quest, the kids read 5 books over a 6 week period, meeting weekly for discussion.

This year Deb Hoffman and I had the pleasure of coaching five second and third graders through the quest. The children read Akimbo and the Elephants by Alexander McCall Smith. They adored the story and enjoyed Akimo’s challenge to save the elephants. We discussed the book and what we could do as a small group to help. One of the children had the idea of painting pictures of the elephants or other African animals and selling them for $5.00 each to support your foundation. Enclosed you will find a check for $30.00 and a pring of Alexander Vidovic’s painting which sold for $10.00 Please acknowledge our children from the Emerson School Book Quest for their extraordinary donation.

Thank you very much.

Dear Debbie,
We are happy to be sending you a $600.00 check for IEF. On July 3rd, we celebrated George’s 29th birthday and hosted over 100 people to help us celebrate. In the past this has been a free event, but this year we decided to raise money for conservation by charging for tickets.

Thank you for all the good work you do for elephant conservation.

Best Regards

Dear fellow friends of the Elephant,
Please kindly find enclosed my donation to the IEF. I care a lot about African Elephants and I’m very concerned about the effect of the poachers. Please use this donation to help the African Elephants.

I received this money from my friends in place of presents on my 7th birthday which I celebrated on September 4th. Everyone knows my love for the African Elephant. Please use this to help them!

Thanks so much
