IEF provides an annual scholarship to this workshop, located outside of Little Rock, Arkansas, for zoo and wildlife veterinarians to learn evaluation techniques and interpretation of ultrasound imaging, perform breeding soundness exams, and semen collection in elephants. In response to the need to have more individuals available to perform reproductive assessments, and ultimately artificial inseminations to meet the needs of the North American captive elephant population, two scholarships were awarded in 2002.
