The International Elephant Foundation and Mahidol University are pleased to announce the International Elephant Research Symposium November 11-13, 2008 at the Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens, Pattaya, Thailand.  This important symposium will concentrate on the research and conservation needs of captive and wild populations of elephants worldwide. 

We invite researchers from around the world to present conservation projects and research results on elephant habitat protection, management, health, nutrition, reproduction, behavior and human-elephant conflict mitigation.  Papers specifically addressing social surveys, economic assessments and agriculture alternatives as mitigation strategies are particularly encouraged.
